Declaration of EPAAM

We, narcology professionals from various countries of the former USSR, have decided to establish the international nongovernmental organization Eurasian Professional Association of Addiction Medicine.

The goal of the Association is to improve policies of aid to persons consuming psychoactive substances and suffering of other pathologic dependence forms through participation in research, information, education programs, publishing, exchange of experience, etc.

USA: new principles suggested for care of prisoners with substance use disorders

The U.S. National Commission on Correctional Health Care has published a position statement on "Substance Use Disorder Treatment for Adults and Adolescents" that primarily focuses on alcohol, benzodiazepine, and opioid use disorders in incarcerated persons.

A report on the Third Regional Conference on Harm Reduction in Eastern Europe & Central Asia has been published. The event, held in Odesa on May 12-13, 2016, looked for an answer to the question: "Is science able to overcome stigma in the HIV epidemic context?"

The International AIDS Society (IAS) organized the consultation in conjunction with the Ukrainian Institute on Public Health Policy and the UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy on HIV/AIDS in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
